These terms govern your use of GarageBooks, a software service operated by Iain Francis Logan, trading as Alpha Pariah Studios. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these terms.

1. About GarageBooks

GarageBooks is a garage management and Making Tax Digital (MTD) VAT compliance software service for independent UK motor vehicle workshops. It is operated by:

2. Eligibility

GarageBooks is intended for use by businesses operating in the United Kingdom. You must be at least 18 years old and have authority to bind your business to these terms. GarageBooks is not intended for personal or consumer use.

6. Subscription and payment

Paid features of GarageBooks are offered on a subscription basis. Subscription fees are billed monthly or annually as selected at sign-up. Payments are processed securely by Stripe. You may cancel your subscription at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days' notice to existing subscribers.

7. Free tier

GarageBooks offers a free tier providing access to MTD VAT compliance features. Free tier features may be changed or discontinued at any time with reasonable notice.

8. Availability and uptime

We aim to provide a reliable service but do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. Scheduled maintenance will be communicated in advance where possible. We are not liable for losses arising from service downtime, including missed HMRC filing deadlines — you remain responsible for ensuring returns are submitted on time.

9. Data and privacy

Your use of GarageBooks is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms. We process your data in accordance with UK GDPR.

10. Intellectual property

All software, design, and content within GarageBooks is owned by Iain Francis Logan (trading as Alpha Pariah Studios). You are granted a limited, non-exclusive licence to use the service for your business purposes. You retain ownership of all data you input into GarageBooks.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Alpha Pariah Studios shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential losses arising from your use of GarageBooks, including losses arising from VAT submission errors, HMRC penalties, or data loss. Our total liability to you shall not exceed the subscription fees paid by you in the 12 months preceding the claim.

Nothing in these terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top of this page will always reflect the latest version. Continued use of GarageBooks after changes have been posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. Significant changes will be communicated to registered users by email with at least 14 days' notice.
